Due to increases in floor
mass required to comply with Building Regulations Part
E, Stowell Concrete now offer a T-shaped block, for use
with their 155mm deep floor joists, that will satisfy
the majority of requirements, but will need pre-completion
testing.
Stowell T joist blocks can be used at 374mm or 289mm centres.
Stowell T joist blocks have a nominal density of 1950kg/m3.
Careful consideration of their use should be made at the
design stage as there is less flexibility in their use
e.g. can only use double joists, not triples where joists
interlink.
At 374mm centres the mass of 1m3 of floor = approximately
320kg.
At 289mm centres the mass of 1m3 of floor = approximately
325kg.
Although the system provides a flush soffit it
is not recommended
that a plaster finish is applied directly to them.
